Fannie Mae Fix Fades as Senate Democrats Split on Plans

Chances that Congress will move this year to wind down or transform Fannie Mae (FNMA) and Freddie Mac are dimming as lawmakers confront a split among Senate Democrats and a change at the regulator of the mortgage finance companies.

  1. Ok so what exactly are the lawsuits for? Just money to be paid back to investors?

    Could the court rule that the investors deserve a dividend?

    It also says "A delay would mean Paulson & Co., Fairholme Capital Management LLC and others who have been acquiring stock in the government-owned companies may have to wait a year or more to learn whether Congress will preserve some value for private shareholders or wipe out their holdings."

    So it could be another year before conservatorship is removed?
